Earth & Air Studios was founded in 2021 by artist Laura Thompson, beginning as a small home studio in Charleston, South Carolina. What started as a personal creative practice has grown into a flourishing art business, with Laura now selling her work monthly at local markets — including 2nd Sunday on King Street — and in select Charleston-area shops such as The Mount Pleasant Mall and Candlefish Maker’s Market.
Working primarily with acrylic paint, Laura creates bright, joyful paintings that capture the whimsy and beauty of the natural world, often inspired by Charleston’s distinctive charm and coastal landscapes. Her work is known for its expressive brushwork, playful color, and light-filled compositions that invite a sense of place and quiet happiness into everyday spaces.
